Planning

How do you plan your lessons?
Do you differentiate your plans?
Do you plan weekly or daily?
Do you plan individually or in a group?
I begin by planning a termly plan setting out the outcomes that are to be taught throughout the term. I then plan out the outcomes for each week in English, Maths and Science. Each week, I also produce a weekly plan, setting out what is to be taught in each English, Maths and Science lesson.
The main focus when planning is to teach whole class, and then differentiate the activities for the different levels of ability in the class.  The term plan is planned as a whole grade level, but the weekly plans are done individually.
Pastoral

How often do you meet parents?
What does your pastoral work involve?
We have had ‘Meet the teacher’ mornings and parents are free to pop in and speak to the class teacher in break or in a free period. In addition, I stay in touch with parents through the telephone and messaging services, as well as a weekly newsletter.
Professional Development

What PD do you do?  How often do you have PD?

We have PD twice a week, where we discuss new strategies.
Class Management

What do you need to manage your class?
How do you manage your class?  Do you have any problems with class management?  Which classroom rules do you use? Why?
We have clear class rules and children are expected to meet the rules and expectations. Class dojo is intrinsic to the class behavior strategy and rewards and sanctions are given daily. The behavior is good, however children need to develop strategies to work independently.
Teaching Strategies

What is your favorite teaching strategy?
What important strategies should we follow?
I enjoy modeling using resources/visuals, speaking and listening activities and games as well as role play, however with time constraints, it is not always to include all these activities to make the most of the strategies.
